My Students

I teach a diverse group of artistic students at a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come from all over the city to our public high school to receive a top notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual arts or theater) and go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.

I am always looking for ways to motivate my students in my classroom with innovative and exciting learning opportunities.

My Project

I am requesting crafting accessories including vinyl, cork board, fabric and thread for use in my classroom and throughout the school. These materials would be an amazing opportunity for my students.

In my science classroom, students will be able to use the vinyl, cork board, and mat board with our existing Cricut to create and embellish presentation boards to communicate their scientific learning in classroom investigations and when completing Science projects.

Our school has sent projects to our county science fair in the past, and the opportunity to use these craft supplies with our Cricut will make their boards even more professional and competitive. The Cricut Maker comes with software that students will have to learn to navigate and use when designing their projects which is a great experience for them because this type of technology will be a part of their adult life.

In my sewing club, these materials will my students to continue to use the Cricut with heat transfer vinyl to create positive messages on the t shirts and other items they are learning how to sew. In our school we focus on mindfulness and having a positive outlook and the vinyl that students design and create will help promote the positive school culture.

Lastly, we will use the requested supplies to design positive messages for the hallways and bathrooms (as recently seen online) which will help our entire school! We have already started this work, and this request will help us replenish much needed supplies. Thank you for your consideration!
