Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. While 40% of our students are considered English language learners, Spanish is the home language of 90% of our students. Many of our students are struggling readers but work hard to reach their reading and math goals during the school year.

The students are excited, engaged, curious, hard workers and are eager to become better readers and mathematicians.

During math, we are solving multi-step word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and expressing our different methods for solving, while analyzing right and wrong answers. But now, it’s more important than ever for my students to be fully engrossed in the world of STEM. It’s important for me to engage my students to ask questions and search for solutions. It’s important for them to create and challenge. To imagine and innovate. To know they can become STEM leaders by exposing them to resources showcasing individuals that look like them.

My Project

My students are working so hard this year--it's a totally different environment as some of them have re-entered the doors of our school building for the first time since the global pandemic.

I want to provide my students with all the resources they need to set them off on the right foot and take part in our next learning journey together.

My students are motivated, interested, and engaged in the world they are growing up in and want to make a difference.

These materials will keep us "charged" and going all year--having headphones so we can concentrate during learning centers & at home and chargers to keep our laptops at 100% will alleviate some of the stress and burden within our classroom!
