Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are goofy, silly, funny, emotional, frustrated, energetic, impulsive, and are craving someone to care about them. My classroom consists of students with special needs and students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. This makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom. I do my very best to make each child feel special and like they CAN do it. My school has a very large population of low socioeconomic students, as well as children in shelters. It would be great to give these students a chance and an opportunity to meet their optimal potential.

My Project

Learning centers allow children to be self-motivated and independent. They allow students to concentrate on things that interest them. Learning centers allow children to freely choose and experiment with materials that they find interesting.

Centers build confidence and allow for learning without fear of failure.

Having engaging materials like a Power Pen and Letter Bubbles for literacy, math, and building centers would greatly help my students progress, especially those with special needs. Having centers lays a foundation for social-emotional and creates a social and emotionally aware classroom. Centers foster engagement and motivation in children where those qualities are largely lacking. It allows for students to learn to share, take turns, and have empathy for one another. It builds a sense of camaraderie, friendship, and determination.
