My Project

Exposure and exploration of art in its various forms is an important part of becoming a well-rounded and educated person, as well as an emotionally sound one. I want my students to have as many opportunities to create as they possibly can. My third graders are facing their first year of standardized tests and are nervous about it. They feel the same stress that teachers feel and they need an outlet.

Having the opportunity to explore with different art supplies and projects can open the door to a whole new world for a child to be able to express themselves.

Typically, children get to experience painting with water colors and liquid acrylic or tempera paint in elementary school and not much more. Both of these are messy to work with and often difficult for students to produce work that they are happy with, which disappoints them. Tempera paint cakes and sticks are far more manageable for a third grader to use, are far less messy, are vibrantly colorful, and are great fun!

I have many projects that use these types of paint that I'd love my students to experience. As we enter the test prep and testing time of year, I want my kids to be able to balance their hard academic efforts and ease their stress with a really strong push to create, create, create! Please help them truly become ART SMART!
