This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us use the power and beauty of music to enhance the sense of community in our classroom!

I teach music to children who are on the autism spectrum in New York.

The children range in age from pre-k to upper elementary. My students are enthusiastic learners, and love participating in all kinds of musical learning activities. They enjoy dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments.

My Project

As a music teacher working with children with autism, some of my goals are to promote and encourage community, socialization, and communication throughout our activities in the classroom. I feel that we can accomplish these goals through the use of the materials I am asking for. The gathering drum will be a great way to create a group music making activity, by sitting several children around each drum to play together. This will also address sharing and turn-taking skills. The parachute is another wonderful group activity that supports these goals. Through the use of the colorful and appealing lollipop drums, egg shakers, and ocean drums, the students will continue to contribute to group music making in a new and fun way. The possibilities for learning are endless!

Your donations toward our new drums and parachute will make a difference for my students.

You will make it possible for them to build their music skills, as well as address many other goals, such as communication, sharing, taking turns, and socializing. It is my hope that these materials will become new additions to our classroom. With your help and generosity, it can be done! Thank you in advance for everything!
