Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hi Donor's Choose Community! I'm Ms. Almanzar, my school's Junior Varsity Cheerleading Coach. This past year, we created our very first JV Cheerleading team, and had an extremely successful year! Through the support and love from Donor's Choose, we were able to supply our cheerleaders with their first bows, poms, shirts, sneakers, snd skirts to help bring school spirit to our local Bronx community. With our uniforms, we uplifted our community through a school showcase, a community fair, and multiple performances for parents, students, and community leaders. For the upcoming 2024-25 school year, our goal is to support the Bronx community by supporting our school at local games, participating in charity walks around NYC, and volunteering at local schools, nursing homes, coat drives, soup kitchens, and more.

Through this project, our Junior Varsity Cheerleaders will become advocates and a voice for the Bronx community to provide cheer and spirit, and to also bring people together.

By increasing our involvement in the community, we strive to cultivate compassion and empathy among ourselves and others. Not only do we want to give back to those around us, we also want to create positive memories that will last a lifetime. Furthermore, I aim to teach my cheerleaders what it means to be selfless, so that they can continue to give back to others throughout their adolescence and adulthood.
