Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are residents of one of the poorest counties in the district in the country. Additionally, many of my students are not English proficient, in addition to their social-emotional needs and disadvantages. My scholars are so motivated and eager to learn. Despite their circumstances, they are in school every day ready to take on challenges. These students are motivated to learn and overcome any obstacles they face on a daily basis.

Their inquisitive minds and avid appetite for learning challenge me to provide them with the best learning experiences that can spark and continue leading their creative minds.

Despite the adversities, they may encounter on a daily basis their empathy for their peers and their community inspires me to go above and beyond to support them. I would do whatever it takes to lead their way.

My Project

The snacks and protein shakes I requested will get my students moving. Regular exercise is important for our students’ health and wellbeing and sports are a great way to ensure that our students get some exercise. Aside from the physical benefits of playing sports, however, there are some other benefits to consider. For example, developing social skills as well as communication skills. Learning to work as a team is an invaluable skill no matter what your age or occupation. Sports are all about working together as a team. Also, the snacks will provide energy for my students to perform their best while practicing and competing. Lastly, my students will benefit from these snacks to fuel their minds, body, and muscles.

In the United States, 18 percent of children under the age of 18—13 million children—live in a home struggling to put healthy food on the table.

Food insecurity can have long-lasting effects on young children, impacting their memory, social, and learning skills.

My students are thrilled to be part of an after-school sports activity like track however, after spending countless hours at school they become very hungry and cranky. These snacks will allow them to stay focused at school and maximize their athletic abilities, give them needed nutrients and keep hunger at bay.
