Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K students attend school in a Title I, NYC public school. Most of the students in my class come from low-income homes where Spanish is predominantly spoken. My students are very enthusiastic and excited about learning.

As their teacher, I am very motivated to cultivate a love of learning where children are encouraged to explore, question and wonder.

I want to provide opportunities for them to investigate and make the connections that will give them the most meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

I want to give my Pre-K students reading opportunities on a variety of topics and Let's Find Out Scholastic Magazine is a great resource. It will help expose my students to social-emotional, social studies and science topics while building literacy skills and a school to home connection.

I will use Let's Find Out to teach reading readiness skills such as concepts of print, letter recognition, vocabulary development and reading comprehension.

These skills are especially important with our young English Language Learners.

Additionally, I want to send home Let's Find Out at the end of each week to give families an opportunity to read these magazines with their children.
