My Students

"What will we do today, Mrs. B?!" This question is asked through smiling faces quiet frequently as the students walk into my room in the morning. My Pre-K students live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in New York City! They are students of PS34 which is a Blue Ribbon, title 1 school. They all come from many different backgrounds, which helps to bring different experiences to the classroom. They love to listen to stories, dance, create art and explore with various hands on activities! They are eager to learn and explore EVERYDAY!

My Project

These materials will help make learning about plants more concrete and exciting for my students! We will use the paint to create paintings and murals of plants based on Georgia O'Keefe paintings. We would love the water beakers to explore properties of water and how water is important to plant growth. The plant specimens will help students identify different plants and will explain how plants grow. The materials will help create new learning the centers so that students will have a hands on learning experience to explore new skills, concepts, vocabulary words and will add to their wonder about plants. Students will be able to discuss plants with their peers and adults based on their learning from these materials. Maybe someone will become a gardener, landscaper, or Botanist because these material will be so exciting for them and will open a new world of discovery. We look forward to learning so much about our upcoming unit of study!
