My Students

"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in my classroom, including the teacher! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.

My classroom is filled each day with 24 fourth graders exhibiting a full range of reading and math abilities.

The classroom is full of activity as we fill every minute working toward academic excellence and trying to have fun at the same time. Our school is a small STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.

My Project

Learning the engineering design process is an important part of our STEM magnet school. My students are always eager to use their critical thinking skills to design and test prototypes, just like real engineers. I want to give my students opportunities to sharpen their design skills in the morning, before instruction even begins.

Morning choice time will give my students the opportunity to choose an engineering project that interests them, and time to work through the design process before school begins.

Having the KEVA planks and the Marbles STEM Learning Lab will give the students interesting options for exploration and construction. The Post It chart pads will allow the students to have ample room to create design plans before building. We are eager to start creating the engineers of the future, one morning at a time.
