My Students

Our school proudly represents an international community that speaks many languages and represents many cultures. Our multicultural mosaic gives our school a global perspective with high expectations for academic success. The students are highly motivated; the families of these children expect a guarantee of success. To assure the children's academic success, it is vital to provide only the best resources possible.

Students can only achieve if they have the necessary tools to do so.

The families of our children have sacrificed much to be in this country, and the children hope to fulfill their families' dreams for success. For that reason, we try to bring the best resources to our students in the hopes of realizing high expectations that will lay a foundation for future opportunities.

My Project

Creating two-dimensional art, whether it be painting or drawing, is quite different from producing three-dimensional art. My goal is to give my students an experience like no other. Having an opportunity to fashion a three-dimensional form from clay is super exciting and truly allows for another avenue of creativity. My students need 12 boxes of 25 lbs. of Amaco Marblex Gray clay, one class pack Amaco clay texture rollers, a canister of 35 student clay modeling tools, and one adjustable clay slicer to create sculptures.

I plan to have students explore the property of clay and create a unique three- dimensional abstract work of art.

They will create art in a two-dimensional format and then translate that work into three-dimensional form, using clay.

As challenges often arise during the creation of art, my students will utilize critical thinking skills and find alternative methods for solving problems. I address these issues in class and use them as a teaching tool for how to deal with life issues. Students ultimately learn how to overcome their individual struggles, recognize their personal triumphs, and celebrate their accomplishments. The entire creative process lends itself to greater self-awareness, increased self-confidence and a better understanding of self and one's artistic capabilities.
