I am currently a Marketing Co-Op Instructor at Lamar High School. Every year, my students are involved in a project where they are to create a Marketing Plan for a new company. Part of the project requires that they record and edit a 15-30 second commercial. In their marketing plan, the students will create a company from scratch and develop a executive summary, financial plan, and a marketing proposal. Within their marketing proposal, the students must develop a short video advertising their product or service. Students will utilize Microsoft Movie maker with the digital cameras that were used for recording to edit their commercial films and present to the class. Students are highly engaged in the learning process during this assignment. Sometimes they are at a disadvantage when they are using out of date technology. I am proposing for a more sophisticated camera to help my students utilize the most current technology. In the past, I've noticed many of my students are using out of date recording devices that are not compatible with the Operating Systems we use on campus. I am requesting a Sony Cybershot camera because based on experience with this brand, it is more effective and compatible with Windows Movie Maker.
