Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a Preschool Special Education class and are ready to learn and explore their environment. All of my student live in a low income community in the Los Angeles area. My student have different types of disabilities ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Impairment, and Intellectual Disability. All of my students are full of energy and eager to learn everyday. They always show up with the most positive attitude and are ready to learn!

My Project

My students will be starting the new school year from home. I want to give them hands on opportunities to help them develop their math skills. The math manipulatives will help my students stay engaged when we do math lessons via Zoom. Having counter cubes, counter flakes, and fruit counter at home will allow them to practice their fine motor skills.

Counters are helpful for my preschoolers in teaching them basic math skills such as counting , sorting and pattering .

By having a variety of math manipulative the student will be able to sort by color, shape and size. Several of my students will be going to Kindergarten next school year and I want to give them the skill to be confident mathematicians.
