Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a 12:1:1 special education class with disabilities that vary from the emotionally disturbed, physical or learning disabilities, to those on the autism spectrum. My school is located in an area of Brooklyn where parents are struggling economically and now with the increase of rent in the neighborhood, their life has become a little more problematic. Some of these problems come from not finding affordable housing and living in shelters to not having the resources at home to learn necessary skills. Some come to school with no book bag, notebooks or pencils because it was simply too expensive for the parents to purchase. I refuse to believe they can't learn. It is my belief that every child has an ideal way of learning and we just have to find the best way for them.

My students are in danger of being left behind in this ever-changing world in which we live and they struggle to keep up.

My children don't learn the traditional way and so we need to adjust to help catch up.

My Project

This project would really help a lot, the iPad requested would help us stay connected in and out of the classroom. It would allow me to see the exact same screens that they do when working in certain apps and programs.

It will also allow us to work in real time for math as I will be able to virtually show the process to some while others work on the board.

It will help tremendously as even though we are in person we are still distanced. All apps on deck!
