My Project

I am lucky to teach in a community that has many multilingual families. Every year I have students who speak various languages.

Some of my students have just begun to learn English, which can make it difficult for them to communicate with their classmates who don't speak their same home language, and vice versa.

My students do their best to communicate with and support each other. They are adept at using technology like Google Translate. In the classroom, they are able to access this technology by using their Chromebooks.

Once they leave my classroom, though, it becomes more challenging for them to communicate without this technology. Language translator devices would foster greater communication outside of the classroom, in places such as specialty classes, the cafeteria, and during recess. These devices are small and portable, so they can be taken anywhere my students go in the school.

My students want to communicate. Please help them to do so!
