Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My amazing and enthusiastic Transitional Kindergarteners and Kindergarteners are enrolled at a school where all children receive free lunch. This is a Title I school with 425 students with various ethnic backgrounds. Our School is located in Lincoln Heights, a small community in Los Angeles.

Although they are primarily English Language learners with limited support from home, they are always eager and ready to learn.

Because of their positive attitude and enthusiasm, I want to provide them with the best opportunities to be successful in their academic journey.

My Project

Due to the challenges of COVID-19, we are learning remotely and doing the best we can. During our Zoom lessons, I attempt to make sure that each of my students express their thinking and emotions through drawings and writing.

Through these expressions, they are learning to appreciate and respect each others cultural background.

My students deserve the best education and I am asking your support with realistic skin tone color pencils and write and draw journals to gain awareness of other people and cultures as we read The Colors of Us, a girl's adventure through her diverse neighborhood.
