This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a diverse population of students ranging from honors, special education, and English language learners who come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school which means that students come from many different social and economic circumstances. I teach seventh grade to three different mathematics classes every year with thirty students. My students are located mostly in the Elmhurst and Corona area of Queens which has been hit very hard by this pandemic.

Many of my students are struggling with understanding fractions right now. This scientific calculator will help them be able to complete their math work without the stress of not understanding fractions or making small calculation errors. A calculator to help them with their fractions and integer skills would be a game changer for many of the who are currently struggling.

I want to provide my students with every opportunity to succeed and this tool will do just that. The calculator will help them complete my math work at home with ease and without stress. These are the exact calculators that are being used on the computer-based state testing system and allowing students to have these in class to practice with, will provide them with practice they need to be successful! These calculators will help my students be successful mathematical leaders of tomorrow!
