My Students

We are a diverse community of K-12 learners at 12 sites across Brooklyn. Presently, our school serves over 563 students classified with a range of social, emotional and cognitive challenges including, but not limited to: autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and cognitive disabilities and emotional disturbances.

Each student comes to us with unique and often severe challenges that have negatively impacted their ability to succeed in a general education setting.

Just under 90% of our students are Title I eligible, meaning that they are living at or below the poverty line.

My Project

My students are working hard to put their recording skills to good use and we look forward to producing our own album by the end of the school year. Currently, they are busy writing lyrics and playing with new beats - all they need is the recording equipment.

Giving our students access to their own recording booth will be the first step in developing our classroom studio where students can express their voices and be heard by their peers.

This project will empower students to express themselves and focus on the quality of the work that they are producing. We thank you in advance for helping us to get this project off the ground and we look forward to sharing our album with you.
