Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students come to school every day, eager and excited to learn. They love to solve problems and take chances. They are active learners and have questions about everything!
My classroom is located in the heart of the Yakima Valley on a Native American Reservation, in rural eastern Washington.
My third grade students come from a variety of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. 100% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, which means nearly all of our families are considered low income.
I am very lucky to have students who come to school, ready to explore, take chances, and are brave! They are my inspiration.
My Project
Whiteboards and dry erase markers are used multiple times a day, especially during math and intervention time. This helps the students do and show their work and learning strategies. The problem with whiteboards and dry erase markers is that the whiteboards become scratched and broken and the dry erase markers quickly run out of ink due to use and being uncapped. Additionally, markers also become lost or taken home, never to be returned. When any of these things happen during a lesson, the students must grab materials from somewhere else in the classroom that then results in a distraction. Boogie Boards would help solve this problem!
With Boogie Boards, students will be able to be highly engaged without distraction, to help provide them with high levels of learning.
Students think technology is great while learning, so these Boogie Boards would increase their engagement while reducing the distractions, resulting in better learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
