My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for EVERY student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals.

Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,200 kids enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

By using the Boogie Boards, our classroom will become more environmentally friendly because we will use less paper as well as ink from the copy machines. The Boogie Board eWriters will motivate students to learn in all subject areas. Some examples include: -Math for problem solving and computation activities -Outlining presentation ideas -Brainstorming ideas alone or in groups -Handwriting and spelling practice -Journal and story writing -Take test and quizzes -Write down lists for experiments & observations -Research notes -Rough copy for a story -Doodling, drawing and cartooning -Small group math and reading instruction -Provide a to-do check list for my visual learners and special education students All of the uses mentioned above will help students build a stronger foundation in reading, writing and math in a creative manner. The digital camera requested in the grant will allow the students to take photos of their ideas and work and save for a digital portfolio.

The Boogie Board eWriters are valuable environmentally- friendly tools for students to develop 21st century skills through collaboration and technology integration.

These boards will motivate them learn and improve in reading, math and writing to make gains at their individual levels. The Boogie Boards will allow students to grow in confidence about using current technology and inspire them to use their imaginations and be creative.
