Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students consist Pre-kindergarten students. They all come from low-income families with limited resources. My students are motivated to learn even though they have limited life experiences.

Though they live in the poorest congressional district in the country, they constantly surprise me with their motivation and enthusiasm.

They are eager to learn and always have an inquisitive mind. I am lucky to be their teacher because I learn from them as much as they learn from me. I get to find the diamonds in the rut.

My Project

Phonics is the foundational skill of how children learn to read. It is very exciting when children begin to learn letters and their sounds because this is the beginning stages of reading.

Once children know the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they stand for, they’re ready to use those building blocks to read words and simple sentences.

Building strong phonics skills in the early years of school is the key of becoming a strong, independent reader.

Reading is an important life long skill needed to succeed in life. I will be providing parents with workshops on how to help their child learn the letters and letter sounds at home. These phonics bags will help me in providing parents with the supplies needed to help their child become literate. Please help me reach this goal by providing to my project.
