My Students

I work in a special ed school with children ranging with all types of learning disabilities. I recently switched from a small classroom to a bigger classroom that now has room for a rug!! I’m super excited to give my children a center to read as many of these children don’t have access to books at home. The reading center will brighten up the environment and give them a comfy place to learn. Many of my students only have access to learning in school so it’s so very Important to make it as bright and happy as possible.

My Project

Having a rug will help my students learn in a comfortable reading environment. Not only will lessons take place on the rug but it will give them a place to read books, act out plays and sit on groups. They will talk about learning, lay in a comfortable place and learn! Some have never had access to this before and it would help open up new worlds for them.

They will now have a special place to learn and talk.

They will have their own spot to go to when they are reading independently, or when we do a shared reading as a class. They are encouraged to bring pillows and stuffed animals from home so it really feels like home.
