Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a small dynamic school in the South Bronx. The students at my school come from a high stricken poverty base, but they are all wonderful children who have a passion for learning. They love our school because like myself the teachers provide them with creative nurturing classrooms that foster the love for learning. We have limited resources and buy a lot of materials on our own so that the students can thrive in our classrooms. We would love some support in helping build our classroom resources.

My Project

The basketballs and scooter board that I am requesting for my students will benefit them in many dynamic ways.

First, if the students receive the basketballs as a classroom resource, this will allow them to build upon areas within teamwork, collaboration, sportsmanship, and sport specific skill building.

The game of basketball is instilled within the culture of their everyday lives, but many of my students do not have a chance to learn the game in the correct manner due to the lack of supplies at my facility. Many of my students think that shooting a basketball around in the playground near their house is the only thing they need to learn to understand the game of basketball. With the basketballs I could teach the game the correct way to them and help them build the skills necessary to become successful at the game.

In addition, the scooter board will allow my students to work collaboratively with each other, allow for self expression in a non competitive atmosphere, and they will allow my students to utilize all of their muscles in order to become healthy and strong individuals.
