My Students

Special needs preschoolers are very active and ready to learn. Their language and fine motor skills are foremost to instill a lifelong love of learning. My students learn and have fun at the same time.

I teach a Severe Disorders of Language preschool class.

My students are 3 and 4 years old. Many of them came to my class without language or means to communicate. My students are not neighborhood students but come to school by school bus. Many of my children qualify for free lunch. They are a lively group of students who are ready to learn. We use a multimodality approach to learning.

My Project

The students will use the iPads in teacher-directed center activities. The books will add to my library to get them excited about learning. The math manipulatives will add to their love of learning and math skills. They will learn while playing and working.

The color and action on the iPads pictures as well as the music are positive reinforcement while they are trying to learn challenging sounds and fine motor skills.

These materials are games to them. If you ask one of my students, "What do you do at school?" A typical response is "Play!". These items will continue to help my students play and learn.
