My Project

This school year, the special education team at my school was moved into a bigger classroom space - yahoo! The greatest benefit was gaining more space to provide instruction for students. However, we did lose out on having natural light from windows.

This project will help provide some fun, cheerful light sources in our windowless classroom.

The light source I am most excited about is the lava lamp for our calm-down corner. I have used liquid sensory toys in the past in my calm-down corner. The lava lamp will be a fun upgrade for my upper elementary students to observe while they use deep breathing strategies to relax.

Kindness is an important character trait that I reiterate with my students daily. The "Be Kind" sign will be a daily reminder to "Be Kind."

Fairy lights always add a magical touch to any space and will help bring additional light into the classroom.
