My Students

The students at my school are truly special. They face immense adversity outside of the school building yet they come to school, eager to learn, and ready for the next challenge. Music has become an outlet for our students and they impress us by expressing their individualism and their confidence that comes from learning a new instrument.

Our Students teach me something new every day through their enthusiasm, charisma and character.

I am incredibly fortunate to have these students in my life! I am looking forward to giving back to them as much as they bring to my life daily.

My Project

The music program at my school is quickly growing.

On average 50% of students enrolled in 5th-8th grade are members of the school band.

With this growth comes extra strain on an already depleted budget. Our band program is at no cost to parents which means students borrow instruments from the program and are also supplied with everything they need to play their instrument. We are in need of more supplies to get us through the school year.

We are currently out of clarinet reeds. While the students are meticulous about taking care of their instruments, things do happen. Some previously loved saxophones were donated to our school and didn't come with neck straps. The 5th and 6th grades especially are having a hard time keeping them in their hands at they are learning without these straps. Percussion is getting more advanced in 7th and 8th grade, a kabasa is a needed addition to their ensemble. And now that 4 bands perform multiple concerts a year we also need some new songs to start circulating in our repertoire. Thank you for helping up grow and keep playing!
