My Students

I just started working in the school district of Philadelphia and have heard a bunch of different stories regarding the students at our school. I am one of those people who looks for positivity in all situations -- I have no tolerance when people start talking negatively about students they don't even know.

I think my students are amazing young adults.

They come from so many different backgrounds and come from situations that most people cannot imagine. My students need to know that they are cared for and that I will be with them every step of the way. Unfortunately, they do not have the supplies that they need in order to be successful -- due to no fault of their own. I need to make sure that I am able to provide the tools for success, both physically and academically.

My Project

My school has moved to the blended learning/individualized online learning for students. I started working with this model last school year. The greatest problem I found was the noise from the computers. Some students were trying to listen to the videos, while others were listening to music while they worked. It was a very distracting environment for students, and myself.

By ensuring that every student has a pair of headphones to use during my class, we can increase their productivity, learning, and engagement in American History.

There is so much that we can offer our students with technology, but it's hard to access that when there is a lot of distracting noise around you. This way students can personalize their learning style to what works best for them.
