My Students

My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade computer/technology and video production learners. They are highly motivated to learn and keep up with the new technology, coding, hardware, electronics, and robotics. They are a diverse group of cultures, genders, learning styles, and motivations for learning. This elective class set supports the ISTE, CTE and CCSS standards for learning in middle school. My students are hands-on learners. They want to learn about electronics, computers, technology, and anything that they can make do what they want it to do.

My Project

Coding and computer science is a career pathway for many of our students in school today. Raspberry Pi has created a product that is an inexpensive, open source device that students can learn to program and control gizmos and robots. With these Raspberry Pis and monitors, we will start building a physical computing lab where students will learn to build and code computers.

Raspberry Pi allow students to make mistakes and learn from them.

Because students are learning on a microcomputer, they can make a mistake and it is not a big deal to switch out to a new SD card and not have to reinstall operating systems or programs. Digital making is the path to the future. Help my students have access to this path.
