My Students

I teach in a school that has a lot of low income and English as a second language children. They are all curious about learning and eager to explore the world. However, there is lack of opportunities to access them.

In STEM class, children enjoy creating projects with their imagination and creativity.

They always surprise me with all of their wonderful ideas throughout the year. Via doing those various projects, they enable themselves to connect to the real world and careers in the future.Most important, they are able to use the language and deepen their understanding.

My Project

Kids benefit the most via exploration. Hands-on activities engage and motivate them to be willing to take a step forward. When kids take their ownership, the outcomes of their learning become internal. Many students in my class are ESL students and they learn best when they are able to work and make projects with their peers.

LEGO building bricks are a great vehicle for my young students to use their imagination and knowledge to create something that integrates their learning.

Most important of all, my students will be able to consistently use science vocabulary we have learned when making LEGO projects.

This year, I am launching enrichment club with groups of students during lunch to create some projects by using classic LEGO building bricks. I have purchased some for them and found this is a great way for them to learn building, since a lot of them never have this experience. They are so engaged and excited of making those amazing LEGO projects. Therefore, we need more, in order for more students to join us. Please help me to encourage my students to shine their creativity. And I believe not only this year, but for many more years, these materials will help my students now and in the future.
