My Students

"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in my classroom, including the teacher! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.

My classroom is filled each day with 20 fourth graders exhibiting a full range of reading and math abilities.

The classroom is full of activity as we fill every minute working toward academic excellence and trying to have fun at the same time. Our school is a small STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.

My Project

The Sunshine State Young Readers Award books will be a super addition to our classroom library. Motivating students to want to read and transport themselves to new places and times is a major priority for me as an educator. Becoming better readers happens when students learn to love books.

Finding just the right book has caused the light bulb to turn on for numerous students.

This collection of books has been carefully chosen by librarians in the state of Florida especially for our young readers. Having these books available in the classroom will give my students the opportunity to try out new genres and experience different cultures.

Not only will these books help increase comprehension, but hopefully they will inspire a love of literature and a lifelong passion for reading.
