Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school loves to teach each, individual student and meet him/her at his/her level of creativity and talents especially in a STEAM curriculum. Our students can be very energetic and at times are dealing with anger management or behavior challenges which require our staff to teach in an unorthodox ways.

In our community of high energy and creative learners, we strive to have our students learn in multiple modalities such as technology in Minecraft.

My enthusiastic and energetic class consist of 35 students who are ready to give it their all every day. We will be engaging with the Minecraft educational program on Nintendo Switches.

Of those 35 kids, about 10 are receiving special services to meet their academic needs. Some of the other students need to show what they know by pictures. They will show what they know in Minecraft using many diverse materials. With our environment today and the ever-changing pace in our advanced technological society, our children need a safe place to learn, move, and have options to learn how to use Minecraft strategies and transfer them to real life.

My Project

Fifth grade combined with 3-4th graders are exciting grades to start or continue gaming and using those strategies to apply it to problem solving skills in reading, math, and conflict-resolution skills.

We will use the Nintendo Switch Console and Minecraft Standard Edition educational program to help our exciting group of students who have mixed interests, abilities, and goals to problem-solve.

This will be an after school activity invited to mostly 3-5th grade students. We will learn how to use technology and creating problem-solving techniques to help our students with math, reading, and their social-emotional needs.
