Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a 12:1+1 (self-contained) class of fourth and fifth graders with various learning disabilities. As part of our instructional focus, we incorporate project based learning into the classroom. All elements of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) are included within our project based learning to allow our students to succeed.

Mathematics is a big part of our every day focus.

When teaching students new math concepts, I integrate hands-on materials to help my students visualize what they are learning.

My Project

All of my students are working hard to understand the math curriculum and apply the strategies to independent practice. I have emphasized the importance of math since the beginning of the year. During our math block, I find it beneficial for the students to rotate in centers. Students are grouped based on their various learning needs and the centers allow for differentiated learning.

By donating to our project, you will not only help my students improve on mathematics, you will help motivate them through hands on games that help to incorporate the given concept.

My students have shown improvements in their learning when I incorporate hands on manipulatives and games.
