I am a speech language pathologist in a public school who works with non-verbal to verbally limited children. I want to give them the chance to make their voices heard.
Help me give my students a voice!
Give their parents the opportunity to hear I love you for the first time. Help their teachers be able to know they want a drink or need the bathroom. These children have so much to say, but their "voice" is locked inside them.
My Project
As part of my job working with these little ones, I have to evaluate their communication skills. As many of them are non-verbal or exhibit limited verbal expression, I am required to find alternative ways to assess their communication skills. Often , that means using low tech (pictures) to high tech speech generating devices to meet this requirement.
Use of the iPad and different voice output applications will give me the tools I need to help my students find their voice.
The iPad is a proven device to meet their needs at a reasonable price. Help me make this happen!
