My Project

Music is coming alive once again at MC and another Elementary, two Title I elementary schools in MJUSD, and our students are absolutely glowing with excitement! With 54 classes ranging from TK through 6th grade, this project will bring a vibrant, unforgettable music experience to over 1,200 students who are now singing, moving, playing instruments, and discovering the joy of making music together. The transformation is real—their eyes light up, their confidence grows, and the music room has become a place where every child feels seen, heard, and celebrated.

My students are busting with creativity, curiosity, and a hunger to express themselves.

They come from diverse backgrounds, many navigating challenges outside of school, yet they show up each day eager to create, connect, and shine. What makes them truly special is their resilience—and that magical moment when they realize, “I’m a musician too.”

This project will provide black lights, neon materials, and light-up drumsticks to transform our music room into a magical, glow-in-the-dark performance space. These materials will support a high-energy lesson where students explore rhythm, movement, and expression in an exciting, multi-sensory way. For many of my students, this will be the first time they experience music education as something that is not only educational—but magical.

The glow-in-the-dark setting boosts engagement, supports sensory learning, and fosters joy. Students will learn musical concepts like steady beat, tempo, and dynamics, while building confidence, coordination, and creativity. It’s not just about the glow—it’s about creating unforgettable learning moments that help every student feel seen, successful, and inspired.
