Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year our school theme is titled the "Greatest Story Ever Told." As a class, we decided to use Alice in Wonderland as our classroom theme. Having a class set to send off with my students at the end of this school year will make a difference not only in what they have learned, but will give them a precious memory they can cherish as they go on to middle and high school.

Every story has a lesson, and every child has a story.

My goal is to have my students learn to love themselves for who they are. I want them to take the "wonder" of who they are out into the world as they move on from my class and discover the wonderful things that life has to offer. In reading Alice in Wonderland, they discover that it isn't just a fairy tale, but it's a lesson in learning how to accept ourselves and become more understanding of what may seem different in their world.

My students are "wonders" themselves. They are always looking to learn new things and through curiosity and their imagination have created presentations this year that exhibit their unique personalities. This has led them to discover that there is so much more to their world than our classroom setting, and I want them to leave me this school year with a desire to continue to explore a world of possibilities!
