Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are young people ready to learn and do better for our globe. Our school has an ecology focus, but with a lack of supplies and materials for Climate Literacy not always being on the forefront, as a global community we need to come together to help teach our future how to become care takers and stewards of our planet.

Water bottles and Brita filters will help us reduce the amount of one use plastic bottles brought from home.

The items on our wish list are to help us establish a school-wide plastic recycling effort. Our 2nd grade students will teach other classes about recycling and then leave a recycle bin with them. At the end of the week, students will use the wagon to transport the paper and plastic back to the school's big BLUE bin.The water bottles and water filter will be part of the effort to reduce the plastic that each child uses a day for water drinking.

This project is just the first step in establishing a strong program that will weave recycling, gardening, reducing waste and advocating for more green spaces in urban settings.
