I have twenty seven energetic and bright kindergarten students who are eager to learn how to read. Nineteen of my students are English Language Learners.

My English Language Learners desperately need access to recorded stories both at home and in school. These students need to hear and interact with the English language at home to support what they learn in school. Many of their parents are not fluent in English and therefore are unable to communicate or read to their children in English. Literacy is the key to success for these deserving students.

With your support, I can set up a lending library/listening center. The students would be able to listen to beginning reader books and other favorite titles (in English)at the listening center during the school day. Equally as important, the students could sign out books on tape to listen to at home. This will help them develop their love of reading as well as support them in their quest to learn English.
