Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Legos are a fun way to engage my little learners and allow them a space to be creative. My students are always excited to use the Legos in our makerspace area and try building something new and inventive. They are always fully engaged and try to build and connect their area with their classmates. I love to see how their Lego cities grow and collapse after each session. I have the students tell a story about their scene after the building session. Many times these stories lead to rich conversations about their individual home lives. I would love to provide my students with additions to our Lego makerspace area like people and animals.

Play is the best way for my little learners to express their thoughts and initiate discussions with adults and peers.

With the new additions to the Lego area, I can increase the academic content to science and engineering while still supporting their social-emotional growth and development.
