Our vision for the library media center is to create a safe, enriching, judgment-free zone to help us foster the love of reading.
My students enjoy using a variety of tactile objects to express themselves.
Not all children can clearly articulate their knowledge. I incorporate all types of media and expression in the library.
As a public school, our student population is unique in that we have such a wide range of academic abilities and economic diversity. The students come to us with varying degrees of experiences, knowledge, and vocabulary. Our motto is, "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader."
My Project
All children love to build, create and express themselves. Legos can be used and are needed for a variety of STEAM projects. The Media Center is the perfect place for that. My students will use LEGOs to learn through play and retain what they learn.
We often recreate characters and settings, as well as, use/need LEGOs for a variety of projects that relate to our science standards and help with social/emotional learning.
LEGOs foster cooperation and teamwork.
Currently, my students are studying natural disasters. They have researched hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis. LEGOs would be useful to created cities, levees, and dams.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
