My Students

My belief is that every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; they just realize their gifts at different times. We are a rural community where the nearest urban area is over an hour away. These students need as much exposure to new experiences that can inspire a bit of motivation or innovation.

I strive to create a classroom that facilitates independence for my adventurous, enthusiastic, fun-loving, inquisitive, eager learners and my classroom is a second home to my students.

They work cooperatively to support each other. We truly become a family during our time together throughout the school year.

My Project

Students find science, social studies and most math topics boring and unnecessary. Children today are bombarded by bright, engagingly presented media. Students struggle learning from stagnant worksheets or 2D books that only present the information and does not allow them to practice learned skills.

Twenty-first-century learners require more hands-on, applicable application lessons that have them exploring and manipulating their curriculum.

In bringing in an abundance of LEGO bricks, my students will have more opportunities to apply, manipulate and solidify their learning. Machinery, 3-D buildings, and concepts will be able to be explored, redesigned, and rebuilt for a more concrete learning experience.
