My students are from the North Louisiana area and have so much potential and capability to grow academically. Each student is fun-loving, enthusiastic, and curious. They love hands on activities that make learning fun. Their eagerness and zeal inspire me to be a better teacher.
My students have so much creativity and problem solving capability; their minds are like sponges that love to soak in knowledge and share what they know with others.
I have to constantly challenge their learning and skills, which allows them to facilitate and be a teacher to their peers. Their passion is very heart warming and it makes me proud to see each student grow, learn, and succeed!
All of my students must have a firm foundation in math to thrive throughout their academic journey. The Lego/Math station will be incorporated into my daily math lessons to give them a more exciting, hands-on experience with the math foundational skills needed to succeed in 1st grade.
I will use the table and chairs to create a space to assist in engaging the students to be more creative and help them facilitate problem solving on their own.
I have a diverse classroom with all learning types and students with specific learning needs. All students will use the Legos at the station to enhance math skills such as adding, subtract, fractions, solve word problems and create their own word problems. The students will also have the opportunity to create their own structures and build skills, such as teamwork, attending to details, and perseverance. These skills will better prepare them for robotics, coding, and our higher level STEM classes.
I have saved to buy several collections of Legos and Lego resources; now we just need a place to make the work come to life and allow them to soar!
