Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K students attend school in a Title I, NYC public school. Most of the students in my class come from low-income homes where Spanish is predominantly spoken. My students are very enthusiastic and excited about learning.

As their teacher, I am very motivated to cultivate a love of learning where children are encouraged to explore, question and wonder.

I want to provide opportunities for them to investigate and make the connections that will give them the most meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

I would like to get LEGO kits and products for my students. I have had an opportunity to explore LEGOS with Bricks 4 Kidz workshops. I would like them to have an opportunity to continue to explore and build with my students, however we lack a supply of LEGOS. I want to use LEGOS to inspire my students to work cooperatively to problem solve and use their creativity to build.

While focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), LEGOS will give my students an opportunity to explore, investigate and build.

In addition to developing problem solving skills, LEGOS also provide opportunities for developing math skills, planning, construction and dramatic play opportunities. LEGOS will provide my students opportunities to be creative thinkers, explorers, and problem solvers.
