Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Lego sets have immense educational value in classrooms. They promote collaboration and creativity in a variety of content areas. For our classroom, these Lego sets will help us to develop and grow our Lego StoryStarter kits. These kits will help my students to create scenes in which they place multiple characters (Lego figures) and develop a narrative around it. For some visual learners, it helps them to be able to see a scene from a story in a 3D model to help them to build a story around it.

The Lego sets included in this project will help to fuel my students' creativity through the writing process as they use the pieces to build scenes from their narrative stories to help them better visualize what is happening in the story, as well as explore new ideas.

As a 6th grade teacher in the classroom for the last few years, I have seen firsthand how excited students get about Lego sets. Their creativity flourishes with just a few blocks at their disposal. With these sets, our classroom inventory will continue to grow.
