Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a small, Title 1 school with most of our students coming from low-income families. Many of my students come from a primary language household other than English leading them to being nervous and easily frustrated with their English language recordings and writings. I’ve gone out of my way everyday to provide a calming, fun, and supportive classroom environment to keep them calm and engaged in their practices while improving their second language skills. Harsh, classroom lighting doesn’t keep them calm or engaged.
These LED lights will give my students other more calming and engaging options to work and practice in.
I used my own money in the past to provide LED lights in my classroom for the last 3 years, but the lights are damaged, wearing out, and are not fully working at this time. These lights would allow me to replace the broken ones and reinvigorate our classroom and their learning. The hex lights have the added benefit of matching our school mascot, and the other lights will allow us to fully light our whole room for a fun and calming LED light.
