My Students

I love coming to work every day where the cows greet you on your drive down the school driveway. The cows are a favorite among the students, staff and community. This will be the third year that our rural school has been opened and we have already created a great family atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome when they enter our school building.

My students are eager, energetic and very curious to learn about the world around them!

We celebrate success as a classroom family and encourage each other to try their best. We have worked hard to create a positive, supportive classroom family where all students are encouraged and supported to try something new.

My Project

I love new things and so do my students. Our brains are wired to recognize patterns so when something new is tossed in, our brains take notice!

Our brain LOVES novelty and when we mix novelty with instruction we see students succeed!

In my classroom, students rotate through a variety of reading stations so that I can work with a small group of students on specific skills and strategies needed to be successful readers. Some stations that my students will rotate through are: read and write the room, sensory table, reading with a puppet and reading big books.

For read and write the room, students will be able to dress as detectives by using the glasses, fedora hats and the mini clip boards. They will go around the room by finding clues and using the mini clipboard to record their answer. They will also be using their auditory phones to take auditory notes or to pretend to share with another detective through their "secret phone." This station, will encourage my students to expand on their writing and to hear themselves speak as they read clues throughout the room. Students will be able to use the pointers and word swatters as they lay on the floor to point and read the words in our big books. They will also be able to use the colored overlays to identify letters and words that we are learning. The sensory table with be filled with the magnetic letters that students will have to search and find the treasure to match uppercase to lowercase letters, build their name and familiar words. The puppets will be a huge hit in our library area so students have a "buddy" to read with!

Help me get my students and their brains to take notice!
