My Students

My Students are Unique Amazing Little Learners in a 6:1:1 class setting. My students are 5-6 years old and they have Autism. Due to their cognitive and communication challenges, I have to create lessons that are completely engaging. During this pandemic, I have been using a lot of hands on materials that allow my students to participate in the lessons as we do in the classroom. I have noticed that my students are highly engaged in lessons when I make them interactive, bright, colorful and most importantly hands on. All of these important components of learning remotely are possible if my students have basic school supplies such as glue sticks, dry erase markers, scissors and laminated work activities.

My Project

As a Special Education Teacher for Kindergarten students who have Autism, I am required to modify all my learning resources based on my students unique learning styles. My Kindergarten scholars learn best with visual support and most importantly hands on experiences. I love to create my own adapted books since it allows my students to use dry erase markers to label pictures to words, circle answers and even write words or sentences. All of these engaging hands on activities requires lamination sheets for them to be sturdy for my students. Velcro allows my students to move and match pictures based on lesson content. Scissors and glue sticks allow my students to complete their differentiated leveled worksheets. It’s very helpful to have all of the learning resources laminated since it helps me to create each activity based on each student individual needs. I want to provide my students with the same hands on experience at home as I do in the classroom. Please help me make their learning needs come true! Thanks in Advance :)
