My Students

My students are amazing! I teach students with special needs in a special day class setting. Currently, I have 9 students (8 boys and 1 girl) who have a variety of special needs: autism, other health impairments, speech/language deficits, and specific learning disabilities.

I love helping my students access the general education content in different ways.

They learn best when I integrate art, science, movement, and music into my lessons. I love that I am able to teach my students relationship skills that will help them be successful in life!

My Project

My students love science LEGO! Please help me bring STEM to life by contributing to my project. My school recently opened a Robotics and LEGO lab. The lab is fully stocked with materials for upper grade students. However, my students (and younger students) often have difficulty manipulating smaller LEGO pieces.

I would use the Duplo STEAM Park kits and people to further my students' learning of LEGO and STEM.

With 4 kits and numerous people, I would be able to co-teach with a general education teacher. This would allow my students to learn alongside their general education peers. Furthermore, since the LEGO kits would be placed in the school’s lab, your support would assist all students in Grades ETK-1. I can’t wait to make our lab accessible to younger students and students with special needs!
