This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so lucky to spend my days with 25 of the most curious, kind, gregarious, and inspiring first graders I've ever known. They enter my classroom wide-eyed and eager to learn every day. With such a motivated group of learners, my days are so fun and rewarding as a teacher.

My students do not let obstacles stand in their way.

Our school is over 90% free/reduced lunch receiving students, but their attitudes would never give you any indication of that. My students do not let such things define them; they are hard workers, inquisitive thinkers, and tenacious learners. Our school works tirelessly to strive for greatness, and I aim to embody this ideal in my classroom every day. I keep high expectations for my students, and they still manage to surprise me with their incredible achievements every lesson.

All children are deserving of a world-class education, and my students are no exception. Quality school supplies to enable and enhance their learning can be great financial hardships for my students' families. This is why I am asking for your help.

My Project

Primary grades benefit so much from having an easel to use for instruction. This easel will allow me to create anchor charts with my students during carpet time. Its extendable arms will also allow me to display charts while the class makes additional charts, which is a useful feature. The whiteboard and magnetic surface will allow my students to write on it and put their magnetic letters and numbers on it. The wheels will allow me to wheel the easel to wherever we need it in the room.

This easel will benefit the learning of every student in my classroom.

Students will be able to clearly see three chart papers being displayed at once, instead of just the one. Also, since it is on wheels, I can roll the easel to various locations in the room. This will be incredibly convenient during small group instruction time and during Writer's Workshop. I love that I will be able to easily wheel the easel in front of my vision impaired students to make viewing the information easier for them. The whiteboard is also magnetic, so my students will be able to use the whiteboard to do their word work with magnetic letters. This easel will literally be used throughout our entire day, in all subjects and activities-math, English (reading, writing, phonics), science, social studies, art, and all during our center time and small group instruction for all subjects!
