My Students

My students attend an inner city alternative school that teaches “ at promise” kids who are struggling behaviorally and academically. They often arrive each day with challenges most of us cannot comprehend- broken homes, generational poverty, homelessness, mental illness and hopelessness. My job is to educate, love and inspire.

Everyone deserves a second chance and my students teach me that every single day!

I want to provide the most engaging resources and learning environment possible for each and every student.

My Project

Providing a safe, comfortable and flexible learning space is important to all my special needs students! Not only do students come to my room for academic help but many attend Social Emotional Groups with our specialized Social Worker (with counselors as needed) four days each week. Kids need to move! Flexible seating allows my students to wobble, stand, bounce, feel physically comfy keeping minds alert and focused!

A variety of flexible seating options empowers kids to find the position and location within the classroom environment that helps them learn best and decrease disruptions!
