Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My colleagues and I have a professional development opportunity to help us see how picture books can be used in high school to build empathy in a Global Studies classroom. We hope to use these titles in our own professional development in showing teachers how we can use children's books to widen single stories and stereotypes. We want to show teachers how we can then use these children's books as models with students to write their own and then hopefully share their own stories with students at our elementary feeder schools.
